I love the idea of an EVERYTHING book instead of a SKETCH book. Many students tend to be repulsed by a sketch book. Too many pages to fill and not knowing what they can fill it with. I like having this called the everything book because it takes away some of the preconcieved things students have heard about sketchbooks before. I can't believe I almost filled the entire thing up in a week! These images I shot are my favorite from the book.
Image 1: Donuts, Donuts, Donuts.... I started to create different situatons for the donut both whole and halfed
Image 2: 1 minute drawings- I am used to doing gesture drawings....I did TONS in my undergrad program. I teach my students this also. I usually pose for them at first then get other students to volunteer. Most of the time they don't know what pose to hit. So this activity giving them guidelines like Laura did I feel would make it easier and more fun for them.
Image 3: Blindfold drawing- Whoo do I suck being blindfolded and drawing. Yet it frees you a bit from being perfect. It also helped me break a picture plane down by having to explain it to my partner. I feel I may do this with my students.
Image 4: A donut close up with Natalie Davis adding in her artistic taste ( the activity where we switched drawings in class)
Image 5: Silverpoint- I have never done silverpoint before. I love it. I definently have to be in a patient mood to do it though. It is a little time consuming. I never knew how the process worked until now. I am glad I got to learn it and hope to do more silver point work in the future.
Beautiful pine cone drawings!
