The Big Pink Elepant in the room.

Project book. I began with the idea of a tree. This lead me to family tree. I wanted to compose a family tree with the basic elements of roots, trunk, branches, essentially the same basic make up. But, with the constant along came the slight differences or alterations. This comes through the roots or "jeans." I really like the landscape. The tree is always grounded. Various treatments of the sky and tree with collage, transfer of the elephant, coffee stain and pen & ink. I used the elephant as a symbol of silence. It's there but no one talks about it. It slowly creeps into the room, unannounced and unwelcome d. We have no control over our genes. I added the sturdy brown trunk which has a closed door, It's not opened ..yet. I enjoy working with symbolism. I want to engage the viewer with common items. Read what you want. I hope to get better with my compositions. Sometimes I think too much and not look enough.
