I see great potential in today's stand-up artist exercise. I'm interested in early childhood creative development and today reminded me of a great book titled; Be A Frog, Bird, or A Tree, Rachel Carr's Creative Exercises For Children. This book incorporates poetry and sketches with each pose.
Also like the group cooperation. So much can be done with this fun project.
Sandra,
ReplyDeleteI agree! Although I am unfamiliar with the Rachel Carr book, I loved the idea of taking this project back to school with me. The objects we had to use in this exercise required us to create some very interesting poses for gesture drawings. I don't think I could create that much variety and interest for my students if I were teaching this without the props.
Yes Carolyn, This project provides a broad range of activities. I will use the stand up artist with the groups that I work with as a compliment to an "Introduction Train". You may be familiar with this group activity...literally making a human train while talking about who we are, what we like, where we're from... it's based on rhythm and older adolescents like it as well as young children. We then sit down to work.
