This altered book has been a real challenge for me. As most artists are, I want to plan everything out and make it "perfect." I always want it to look exactly like the real object or make it look recognizable. It has always been a struggle for me in my art work to let go and try new things. Especially art more along the abstract style. This book at first was hard for me, I just began by wanting to make it about something. It didn't work. So I honestly said, " F it!" I just started making marks with differently materials. Then found some I enjoyed and continued making them. Eventually I kept doing this page to page. The process started to be liberating for me. I began to enjoy not knowing what I was making and just going with the flow. After all is said and done, this project really made me open up and start to see how I can make work and not have to have a plan for it.
